Base Camp Hires Kendall Card as Director of Social Media

We’ve been researching, playing with and advocating for social media strategies and tools for so long that the time has come to either put up or shut up.
So, I am psyched to announce that Kendall Card has joined Base Camp Comm. as the Director of Social Media. Kendall is charged with developing and directing social media strategies, tactics and metrics for Base Camp’s clients. He will be working out of Base Camp’s Park City office.
I became acquainted with Kendall during his time at Backcountry.com as their Community Manager. He led their blogging, community outreach and grass roots marketing activities. Kendall then started his own gig, called WOMBranding, and quickly amassed a list of clients for whom he was directing social media strategies, including Ski Utah, PROBAR, Backcountry.com, Bluehouse Skis, and Utah Vacation Homes. These accounts will now become part of the Base Camp team.
Kendall is a natural connector. His capacity to remember names, titles, families, networks, dates, and friends of friends is exceptional. He engages people on a very personal and compassionate level, both in person and on-line, and it is genuine. His deep-seated community interest combined with his expertise in online social network, social media, and social computing technologies, theories and current events, makes him uniquely qualified to help our clients establish more direct and dynamic relationships with their customers through social media initiatives.
We aren’t launching a new social media wing or division of Base Camp. We see social media as public relations and public relations as social media. It is how PR is evolving. Exactly where and how traditional PR and social media will converge is still undefined, and by having both competencies in-house we will be able to explore, develop, and define the relationship directly.
The addition of Kendall to the Base Camp crew is our commitment to the social media realm and the evolution of public relations. We put up.
We’ll be putting out a release in the new year, but first I wanted to say…welcome, Kendall.
