Like riding your bike: At night? To race? In a party-style setting with people you might not know? For pure fun? Through downtown streets with mysterious, thought-provoking checkpoints? To drink frosty beverages?
Answering YES to all these questions means you’re cordially invited to a night of Alley Kat racing that features all that’s mentioned above plus free swag, a cruise along the Pacific, fish ‘n chips, debauchery, high fives, new amigos … and the debut of a REALLY, REALLY bright — kind of like this flyer, but much, much brighter — bike tail light from Princeton Tec called the SWERVE. The Alley Kat race is also sponsored by our friends at Dirt Rag magazine and Swobo.
It’s free, it’s as casual or competitive as you want and it starts at 7:30 pm on Friday night April 18th outside Aquarian Bicycles - our go-to local bike wizards who have a notable history of creating speed-induced race courses in downtown Monterey and beer swilling. They’re good people.
So, bring everything listed on the flyer (extra dollars will be handy), a set of tires with some air pressure and your imagination to the first event of its kind at the annual Sea Otter Classic.
Costumes are encouraged.
