KONAWORLD (August 4, 2008) – Plowing through pools of mud and sliding down slippery singletrack last weekend, Kona Factory Team rider’s Tracy Moseley, Wendy Simms, Barry Wicks and Kris Sneddon made the best of tough course conditions during the MTB World Cup races in Bromont, Quebec, Canada.Tracy racing Bromont

Leading the way for the team was downhill specialist Moseley who has been charging through the World Cup series this season and currently sits in third overall in the women’s elite downhill standings. With light rain falling during the finals and adding an extra layer of slickness to the course, Moseley bombed through the race finishing third in the 19-rider race. Moseley finished with a time of 3 minutes, 17 seconds – a mere three seconds behind the winner.

“I had a pretty good top section in the final,” says Moseley, “but then lost some valuable speed in the last flat turns.”

In the women’s elite cross-country race, where riders battled a wet course littered with roots and rocks, Simms finished 20th with a time of 1 hour, 55 minutes in the 41-racer field. In the men’s elite cross-country event, Wicks finished the six-lap course in 32nd, while Sneddon took 33rd in the 66-rider race.

Wicks added: “It was like racing the muddiest, nastiest cyclocross race multiplied by four.”
