Princeton Tec Dive Lights Get Brighter For 09

- With 100-Percent More Light The Underwater Landscape Just Got Clearer -

Bordentown, NJ (October 21, 2008) – Ponds, lakes, rivers, oceans – we’ve tested our lights in all of them. Although some of our liquid testing grounds have been clearer, murkier, warmer and colder than others, the one recurring element we learned is that if you don’t have a bright light while submerged you might as well stay above water.  Let’s face it, besides having enough air on your back – assuming you’re not Houdini – the next most important thing is having a reliable, super-bright light. Enter our new 2009 dive light line.

Diving in stride with technology (and sometimes ahead), our new 2009 line of dive lights features the brightest LEDs available today. Due to evolving light technology in the dive industry, we have revamped our Shockwave LED, Miniwave LED and Torrent LED handheld lights to burn twice as bright and twice as long compared to older models.

Expanding from 170 lumens to 400, the 3-Maxbright Shockwave LED is the industry leader in dive lights and features 20 hours of burntime down to 330 feet. Besides delivering unprecedented brightness and color temperature for realistic colors underwater, the Shockwave’s three LEDs can burn for over 10,000 hours without replacement. As a matter of fact, the low setting on the new Shockwave is now brighter than the high setting on the old Shockwave!

The little brother to the Shockwave LED, the Miniwave LED has been beefed up from 150 lumens to 337. Also featuring 3-Maxbright LEDs, the Miniwave has 10 hours of burntime, is half the weight of the Shockwave and features a perfect streamlined fit for a variety of diving options.

Boasting high performance in a small package, the upgraded Torrent LED jumps from 47 lumens to 95. With 1-Maxbright LED the Torrent features 30 hours of burntime and incorporates a locking switch that prevents accidental activation and can be used with any glove thickness.

Also new for 2009 is the 14 lumen Amp 1.0 handheld light. A small, bright, waterproof (to 330 feet) light with carabiner loop, the Amp 1.0 is a perfect back-up light. Secure it to your mask or clip it on your BCD, a small extra light can go a long way. Plus, it comes in a bright yellow – ideal for underwater pursuits.

New Princeton Tec Amp Series Handhelds Will Last Longer Than You

Posted by: Da Cuzz | 23 July 2008 | 2:52 pm

- Superior Burntime And Ultra Bright Rebel LEDs Make Getting Left In The Dark An Anomaly -

Bordentown, NJ (July 23, 2008) “ Can too much light be a bad thing? Maybe if you’re trying to get some ZZZs, watch the latest blockbuster flick or catch a glimpse of the elusive nocturnal African Aardvark while on safari. But, not if you’re exhausted trying to find a backcountry campsite, caving 339 feet below Earth, fixing a flat tire at night in the middle of North Dakota or pushing through the dark during a rugged 24-hour race.

In these situations, an Amp is all you need. The new Princeton Tec Amp Series handheld lights are just that … Amped.Princeton Tec Amp 3.0 image Amped on burntime. Amped on brightness. Amped on keeping you lit.

So, why is a long burntime critical? Because without it your well-planned expedition might turn into a mini epic. A longer burntime and longer lasting handheld takes the worry out of asking yourself such questions like, “Do we need to navigate by the stars” or “Can I use the light to go to the bathroom.” You’ll have all the light you need, plus more.

With the four new models offering a whopping combined burntime of more than 400 continuous hours, having an Amp in your lighting quiver means darkness never exist. Boasting more than six days of continuous burntime, the Amp 5.0 (65 lumens/160 hours) and Amp 4.0 (50 lumens/150 hours), the Clydesdales of the series, feature revolutionary Rebel LED technology that offers twice the brightness, twice the efficiency and a longer shelf life compared to standard high watt LEDs on the market.

The lower-profile Amp 3.0 (40 lumens/90 hours) and Amp 1.0 (14 lumens/3 hours) weigh-in with a total burntime of more than 90 continuous hours and are ideal for any activity that requires minimal weight and maximum brightness. With 90 hours of precious burntime, the Amp 3.0 features four new Ultrabright Nichia LEDs that provide 30-percent greater output than regular 5 mm LEDs and a wide beam for maximum peripheral lighting. The Amp 1.0 offers the power of a Xenon bulb in a tiny package with a convenient carabiner attachment loop. All Amps are waterproof, utilize super-secure rubber grips and can run on rechargeable batteries.

Can you go for 160 continuous hours? If not, it’s good to know your light will.

New Swerve Tail Light Is Really, Really Bright

Posted by: Da Cuzz | 10 April 2008 | 6:56 pm

TRENTON, NJ (April 10, 2008) - During Princeton Tec’s round table product development discussions regarding visibility and our new taillight, we kept stumbling across the words “REALLY BRIGHT. At first, we weren’t sure what it meant. Did it mean brighter than bright? What does “really” really mean anyway?

DSC_1960After further discussions and some research (mostly on our own manufacturing floor) we discovered that it meant that we should probably make our new bike tail light, called the Swerve, you guessed it, REALLY BRIGHT. As we kept testing we decided, in fact, it would be a great, noble idea to make the Swerve REALLY, REALLY BRIGHT “ which is, as you might have guessed, brighter than REALLY BRIGHT.

In the end, we found success. One of the key advantages of the Swerve is the use of two high-power LEDs rather than regular 5mm LEDs. By using a combination of diffused and focused lenses, we were able to create a very, very bright beam pattern that repeats between a wider beam and a narrow beam, ultimately creating a higher level of visibility. The eye must juggle these two beams and therefore doesn’t get a chance to relax “ very effective.

The combination of wide and narrow beams and an extremely bright source of light, allows the Swerve to be one of, if not the most, efficient and REALLY, REALLY BRIGHT bike tail lights on the market. Yes, we said so.

Because the Swerve is REALLY, REALLY bright it can be seen for miles. It is also quite versatile; having the capability to not only attach to the seatpost, but seatstay, handlebar, jersey, helmet, fork, messenger bag, etc. ¦ It also features a toggle switch operation for on-the-go functionality with flash and steady modes. And, it’s only $29.99.

The Swerve will make its debut at the Sea Otter Classic April 17-20. For more information about the Swerve and Princeton Tec check www.princetontec.com.

Princeton Tec Teams with Fuji Bikes for Bicycle Market Distribution

Posted by: admin | 12 November 2007 | 9:55 pm

-1200 strong Fuji dealer network to complement current distribution channels-

Princeton Tec Lighting announced today that they are partnering with Fuji Bikes to continue to expand the Princeton Tec dealer network in the U.S.. Now more than 1,200 Fuji, SE and Kestrel dealers nationwide will have instant access to the full Princeton Tec line through Fuji’s in-house sales people and outside sales force, as well as Princeton Tec’s regional distributors Down East, Action, Hawley, Hans Johnson, BTI, Wilson and Cyclone.

“We’re really excited about the addition of Fuji USA to complement our current regional distributors and dealer direct service,” said Princeton Tec’s Justin Kline. “Fuji has a longstanding history as a quality brand in the bike industry and has been experiencing rapid growth the past few years. Plus Fuji is located only about 20-30 minutes from our offices which provides for excellent local synergy and easy communication.”

Princeton Tec’s bike-specific product line was greatly expanded with last year’s introduction of the Switchback series - a new rapid charge LED bike lighting system. The Switchback series draws on Princeton Tec’s 30 years of lighting experience to create a suite of highly durable, reliable and functional lights set apart by their lengthy burn time, incredibly short charge time of two hours and comprehensive included accessory kit. IBDs that aren’t currently Fuji dealers can sign up to be strictly parts and accessory dealers for Princeton Tec products and not sell the line of bikes.

“This relationship is huge for us,” said Fuji’s Steven Harard. “Princeton Tec is a high end brand that Fuji is adding to our line of P & A. It allows us to bring new innovative products to our dealers that most of them haven’t seen before.”

Princeton Tec Unveils the new Go-To Headlamp…The Fuel

Posted by: Mike Geraci | 7 August 2007 | 4:40 pm

Unique, Streamlined Design Creates Distinctively Styled New Standard for Lightweight, 3 AAA Battery Headlamp Category

Princeton Tec FuelGiving outdoors people of every stripe a new go-to headlamp for almost any situation, Princeton Tec introduces the new, lightweight, three LED Fuel. In a departure from the standard ‘clamshell’ shape used on most 3 AAA headlamps, the engineers at Princeton Tec designed the Fuel from a clean slate, allowing for the integration of revolutionary performance features. The Fuel’s unique, distinctive design is available in several different colors and the headlamp retails for $24.99.

The only self contained headlamp to use an asymmetrical single arm bracket, the Fuel rotates about its center of gravity on a secure ratchet located on the body’s left side. This design feature leaves the right side of the unit’s body unattached and an ideal location for the easily opened battery door. The light’s three AAA batteries are housed in triangular layout, instead of stacked, creating a smaller front profile for the unit, allowing for the inclusion of the easy access battery door and creating a tougher and more secure housing for the Fuel’s electronics.

The Fuel’s three super bright Nichia LEDs cast a 16 lumen beam on the light’s highest setting, and the ultra light unit sits comfortably on the easily adjusted headband. The single button control turns the light on and off and changes the beam between the Fuel’s four output settings: high, medium, low and fast flash.

Perfect for everything from nighttime camp chores to technical night hiking, the innovative new Princeton Tec Fuel sets the new standard for the 3AAA headlamp category.
